Bio

Kendall (she/her) is from the south suburbs of Chicago. She received her BA in Literature and

Women’s and Gender Studies from Hamilton College and her MA in Women’s and Gender

Studies from DePaul University. Her research interests include examining the intersections of

race, gender, and sexuality in sport and sports media. She focuses on key conceptual frameworks

like heteronormativity, colorism, and misogynoir in the representations and treatment of Black

women and Black queer athletes. She pays particular attention to the way these athletes create

their own spaces and counternarratives through social media and other means.
