Last month several porn industries joined other companies across the US by declaring their support for the Black Lives Matter movement through statements shared onto their social media accounts. This was met with "intense skepticism from black performers" who criticized these companies for not doing anything to address the racism black performers experience on a regular basis. The writer of the article, Tracy Clark-Flory, shares insights made by Mireille Miller-Young on racism within the porn industry that ranges "from white performers’ racism to race-based pay disparities and racist film tropes." Clark-Flory highlights Miller-Young's book, A Taste for Brown Sugar: Black Women in Pornography, which "takes a historical look at the experiences of black women performers in the adult industry."
