To our beautiful trans, intersex, gender non-conforming, genderqueer, and non-binary students, staff, and colleagues

To our beautiful trans, intersex, gender non-conforming, genderqueer, and non-binary students, staff, and colleagues,

We see you. We love you. We need you.

Trans people existed before state recognition, and they will exist forever. No decision by any individual, institution, or nation will ever change that, nor can it can ever erase you.

The latest federal proposal will, if enacted, exacerbate even the most basic of everyday life activities for many, especially the most vulnerable among us, and in spaces as varied as prisons, hospitals, clinics, DMVs, and shelters and asylums of all kinds. We in the Department of Feminist Studies promise never to stop fighting for trans justice; we will never stop teaching trans issues in our courses, and we know, full well, that the future of feminism is trans.

Your life, your ideas, your presence are all precious to us, and you will always have a home in Feminist Studies.

We see you. We love you. We need you.

With fierce solidarity,

Jenn Tyburczy, Director of the LGBTQ Studies Minor, Department of Feminist Studies
